GIRLS WITH GUNS!

Saturday 23rd of November we held a ladies only come and try Clay Target shooting day at Mansfield Clay Target club.

This was a sold out event and became a huge success. We had 100 ladies from across the country side, from beginners to intermediates come and give clay target shooting a red hot crack.

We shot a range of practise targets in the morning before sitting down for a gourmet lunch thanks to Mandy, Sharna and the Beesley family. The ladies were then placed in squads up to 6 people to shoot a 20 target competition across 5 stands. Each stand had two single targets either an incomer, an outgoer or a crossing target along with a pair. The prizes were: 1st a pair of Lowa boots valued at $579, 2nd was a Daiwa Rod & Reel combo valued at $250 and 3rd overall was a Swazi clothing packaged valued at $180.

We had a squad of girls under the age of 18 who also shot for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in their age group.

We also had a prize for the highest score in the squads. This prize package was made up with a Yeti eski, R&N blades custom knife, ICOTEC game caller, $100 Aussie Huntress voucher and a $200 Stoney Creek Voucher.

Each lady received a show bag full of goodies with a value of $200.

There were a lot of nerves on the day, but once the event began those nerves shortly turned into confidence and huge smiles on the ladies faces, thanks to our awesome coaches. .

It is fair to say that the team at Mansfield Hunting and fishing are proud of these ladies, the kind words of encouragement and support that came out towards complete strangers was incredible. The day was set up for women to have a go at shooting in a comfortable environment and reiterate that shooting is not just a male sport. We feel so privileged to have shared these experiences with these incredible women whether it was their first time handling a gun or just getting some more practise and hot tips.

We had our firearm reps Neil Rundle from Beretta Aus, Harrison Lee from OSA and Cody Edwards from Raytrade Aus assist us in the coaching as well as supply demo guns for the ladies to test out. We also had staff members Nick Kirley, Melanie Kirley and Shane Kirley, as well as Steve and Rochelle from Field & Game Benalla along with Jack Hocking as coaches.

The day was long and hot, with a lot of red arms and legs walking around the club but that didn't wipe the smiles off their faces. Everyone took the weather in their stride and pushed on. To all the ladies that turned up on the day, we cannot thank you enough. You should all be so very proud of what you have achieved and I hope we see you in store soon.

A huge thank you to our sponsors:
